Metropolitan Development Services provide the full development service to the MHP family of organisations, from land acquisition and feasibility work to delivery of the construction programme.
MDS works in London, the east of England region, M1 and M11 corridors, the South Midlands and the East Midlands region.
In the 2008 to 2011 funding round, we successfully claimed grant worth just under £88 million across our area of operation for new build homes. We completed more than 1,800 new homes between 2008 to 2010 with over 50 different contractors.
Our developments include most types of housing:

- major regeneration projects
- strategic asset management programmes
- Section 106 partnerships tailored to a particular development's requirements
- homes built for outright sale.
Our client focussed approach means we are able to ensure the delivery of appropriate schemes to meet the needs of the residents and communities we work with and our project development process ensures that the client is involved throughout.
Quality
The MDS design brief exceeds the Homes and Communities Agency design and quality standards, meets the current Mayor of London's 'London Housing Design Guide' and we include as many enhanced standards as possible within our schemes. Quality of design, product and the programme is delivered through regular monitoring and review of our activities by in house project managers, architects and surveyors.
Technical and environmental innovation
Innovation within the construction industry is carefully monitored by the MDS specialist technical team to ensure the appropriate use of emerging technologies and eco-friendly materials in our programme. We actively assess whether and how innovations meet current and anticipated standards, whether they are cost effective initially and over their design life and whether they provide benefits to the residents who live in the homes.
